Refund Policy
Introduction
The Information Warfare Foundation of India ("IWF", "we", "us") is a non-profit organization that depends on voluntary contributions to carry out its work. This Refund Policy explains how payments made to IWF are treated and how a refund can be requested in an exceptional case.
In short: all payments made to IWF are final and non-refundable. A refund may be requested only by written grievance to donate@iwf.org.in and refund@iwf.org.in, and is granted only if IWF officially approves it.
This Policy is part of our Terms of Service and should be read with our Privacy Policy.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to every payment made to IWF through our website or by any other means, including:
- donations and contributions, one-time or recurring;
- registration, participation or other fees for programs, workshops, training, events and campaigns;
- membership, subscription or sponsorship payments;
- fees for consulting, publications, digital products and other services; and
- any other amount paid to IWF, in any currency and by any payment method.
2. No Refund Policy
All payments made to IWF are final and non-refundable, whatever the amount, purpose or payment method. A payment does not become refundable because the amount is large or small, because a program or event is rescheduled, because you change your mind, or because you did not use a service or benefit.
Payments to IWF are voluntary. By making a payment you confirm that you have read and accepted this Policy and that you understand that you have no right to a refund. Nothing in this Policy affects any right you have under law that cannot be excluded.
3. Requesting a Refund
Although payments are not refundable, you may ask IWF to consider a refund by raising a grievance. A request is considered only on its merits, entirely at the discretion of IWF, and every refund is subject to official approval by IWF. Making a request does not mean that a refund will be granted.
Examples of grievances you may raise are a payment made in error, such as a wrong amount or a duplicate payment; a payment made without your authority; a technical fault on our website or payment page that caused a wrong or unintended charge; or a paid program or event that IWF cancelled. These are examples only. They do not give you a right to a refund, and each request is decided on its own facts.
Please write to us as soon as you notice the problem. Delay can make a payment harder to verify, and the bank and payment gateway records needed to check it may no longer be available.
4. How to Submit a Request
Send an email explaining your grievance to both donate@iwf.org.in and refund@iwf.org.in. Please use the email address you used when you paid, and include:
- your full name and contact details (email and phone number);
- the payment details: date, amount, payment method, and the transaction ID or payment ID shown on your receipt or in your bank statement;
- a clear explanation of your grievance and why you are asking for a refund; and
- supporting documents, such as a payment screenshot, bank statement entry, or any correspondence with us.
Requests that are incomplete may take longer, and we may ask you for more information. Requests made by phone, social media, or through the website contact form are not treated as refund requests.
5. How Requests Are Reviewed
- We will acknowledge your email within 48 hours.
- IWF will check the payment with its records and with the payment gateway and bank, and may seek further details from you.
- The request will then be placed before the authorized officials of IWF for a decision. We aim to tell you the outcome by email within 30 days of receiving a complete request.
- IWF may grant or reject the request, or grant it in part, and may give its reasons. The decision of IWF is final.
6. If a Refund Is Approved
- The amount and terms of any refund are decided by IWF at the time of approval.
- Where possible, the refund is made to the original payment method. If that is not possible, we will agree another lawful method with you.
- Once we have started the refund, the time it takes to reach your account depends on your bank, card issuer or payment provider (for example Razorpay), and IWF is not responsible for delays on their side.
- If you received a receipt or other acknowledgement for the payment, it will be treated as cancelled when a refund is made. You must not use it to claim a tax benefit or for any other purpose.
7. Failed or Duplicate Debits
Sometimes your account is debited but the payment fails or is not confirmed to us. In most cases the payment gateway or your bank reverses such an amount automatically, within the time set by them. If this has happened to you, please wait for that reversal first. If the money has not come back after the usual time, write to us as described above with the transaction ID and your bank statement entry, and we will help you trace it with the payment gateway. A reversal of a payment that IWF never received is done by your bank or the gateway and is not a refund by IWF.
8. Recurring Donations
If you have set up a recurring donation, you may ask us to stop future payments at any time by writing to donate@iwf.org.in with your payment details. We will stop future payments as soon as reasonably possible, and you should also cancel the standing instruction with your bank or payment provider if you set one up. Payments that have already been made are final and non-refundable, subject to section 3.
9. Chargebacks and Disputes
Please contact us before you raise a dispute or chargeback with your bank or card issuer, so that we can try to resolve the matter quickly. If a dispute is raised, we may give the bank and payment gateway the information they need to deal with it. This Policy does not limit any right you have against your bank or card issuer under their terms or the law.
10. Changes to This Policy
IWF may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The revised Policy will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. The policy in force at the time of your payment applies to that payment.
